Leah & Jim’s laid back rustic Ratsbury Barn wedding
Leah and Jim wanted their wedding day to be a fun-filled celebration. A day that they could really enjoy with their children, families and friends. At Ratsbury Barn they found a perfect venue for a beautiful, relaxed barn wedding.
Leah and Jim with their families worked so hard on all the wonderful DIY touches and decorations. Jim was racing around the venue all morning, dodging torrential rain showers, getting the last few things perfect and ready for Leah to arrive. Happily an hour before the ceremony the rain passed, the sun came out and their dream of a ceremony outside became a possibility.
Every part of their day was perfectly tailored to the two of them. They chose bright colours to capture the fun of the day; purples, blues and bright pinks in their flowers and the decorations. From the Converse, they both wore (with Bride and Groom embroidered on them respectively), to the Beatles cake, tribute band and decorations (Jim is the biggest Beatles fan) and the hog roast and garden games. Jim looked very cool in pale grey trousers and waistcoat with a crisp white shirt and cyan blue tie. His groomsmen wearing purple bow ties and purple braces with grey trousers and white shirt. Leah looked gorgeous in a simple and pretty white dress with beaded detail and blue tie around the waist. The bridesmaids were super cute in their pretty floral dresses.
After a really heartwarming and touching ceremony outside in the sunshine, the couple walked back down the aisle to a mass of bubbles. It was then time for the celebrations to begin. Drinks were drunk, the tasty hog roast and buffet eaten and games began. There was a tug of war, wellie throwing, giant connect four and more. Everyone was happily chatting and mingling, enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxed atmosphere. Leah and Jim had asked all their friends to write a little message and attach them to a balloon each, which they then released. Soon it was time for speeches and then the Beatles tribute band began playing. Jim very bravely took to the stage and sang a song with the band, which was met by huge cheers by everyone.
It was an enormous pleasure to be there to photograph Leah and Jim’s wonderful day. I’m sure you can see from the photos how lovely their day was.
