Millie & Dan’s beautifully unique blue and white wedding at Fetcham Park, Surrey
When Millie got in touch with me to ask if I would photograph her wedding at Fetcham Park I immediately said ‘Yes’! To be honest I would have said ‘yes’ regardless of where Millie and Dan chose to get married. I am very fond of Millie’s family, who I first met when photographing her sister Jenny’s wedding at Moor Park. These guys welcome you into their home and family with open arms and it doesn’t take long to feel part of the clan. Getting the chance to catch up with them all again was such a treat.
Millie and Dan planned a fabulous wedding day. A wonderful mix of elegance, fun, individuality, humour and two awesome wedding dresses! The day started at Millie’s mum and dads house, with plenty of excitement around the hair and make up time. I was thrilled to bits to be working with make up artist Ana Ospina and hair stylist Julie Lilley. Both amazing at what they do and part of the dream team that first came together for Jenny & Edwards’ wedding.
While I was with Millie, my assistant photographer was hanging out with Dan. He was getting ready only a couple of miles from Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Leatherhead, Surrey where the couple were tying the knot. Both of us enjoyed the morning, capturing the build up to the big moment where Millie and Dan said ‘I do’.
Leaving the final bridal preparations in Watford I dashed half way round London to make it to the Church in Surrey. As Millie walked towards the church door she looked effortlessly elegant in her Pronovias dress. A simple and modern look with a hint of 1950’s style, accentuated by the prettiest white gloves. Waiting for her in the Church was Dan, looking very stylish in his dark blue suit.
I have to give a big shout out to the wonderful priest. He was friendly and welcoming and made the ceremony both moving and funny. It was a very happy moment for all as Millie and Dan made their vows, signed the register and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. After some enthusiastic confetti throwing the couple made a very stylish exit in a sporty little MG. They chose to drive off together, just the two of them, for a little scenic drive to their reception at Fetcham Park.
Fetcham Park is a stunning venue, a beautiful Grade II listed house set in gorgeous landscaped gardens. The main staircase and murals have to be seen to be believed. In this beautiful setting Millie and Dan celebrated with their friends and family.
After drinks and delicious canapes in the gardens (courtesy of the very talented Kalm Kitchen) everyone moved into The Salon for dinner. Soon it was time for the speeches. There was tears and laughter as some heartfelt moments were followed by a few embarrassing tales. The evening part of the celebrations began with a surprise video message created by Millie’s sisters and followed by the first dance.
As the guests mingled, danced and discovered the photo-booth and fake tattoos, Millie made a swift exit to change into a new evening dress. She then made a grand entrance appearing with Dan on the balcony overlooking the front of Fetcham Park, and from this dramatic spot she threw her bouquet. It was a perfect way to kick off the evening festivities.
Millie and Dan’s wedding was such a wonderful day to be a part of and to photograph. From start to finish it was a fun and very happy day, hope you enjoy viewing their wedding at Fetcham Park.
