A unique London wedding at two gorgeous venues
When Lauren and Robin first got in touch with me about their unique London wedding, I was so excited. They were planning a really fabulous city wedding with two amazing venues. They are both from the North of England but London is their home. They wanted a wedding that reflected that. Lauren and Robin are the nicest people and being fellow northerners we hit it off straight away! I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Getting ready
I began the morning at an Air BnB in North London, where the bride, her friends and her parents were getting ready. It was really relaxed with plenty of laughs, some food and some fizz.
Lauren had her make up done by Kaz Fernando, who did a wonderful job. When it was time for her to get into her dress there were tears all round. Her bridesmaids, her mum and her dad all had an emotional moment when they saw her dressed and ready. Lauren wore an elegant Pronovias dress and Robin wore a bespoke suit from Edit Suits and they looked so gorgeous.
The ceremony
The wedding took place at St Stephen’s, a decommissioned church in North London, and was wonderful. They had a simple civil ceremony with some lovely readings. After the ceremony the walked back down the aisle hand in hand, ready to start celebrating!
The reception
The initial wedding reception started at St Stephen’s. The couple had laid on some prosecco and beers for their guests to enjoy after the ceremony. We did a few family photos and I captured some great natural photos of the couple and their guests.
The second part of the reception was at Clapton Country Club, which is a wonderfully unique spot. An old tram depot that has been restored into a pub/restaurant, which they’d decorated with lots of green foliage.
It was a beautifully sunny day, which was glorious. While the guests headed to the venue for drinks and canapes, we wandered to Hampstead Heath for some photos. The Heath is a place that is special to Lauren and Robin, as they spent a lot of time there when they first met.
During the reception, they served drinks and canapes in the sunshine, which gave the afternoon a really chilled vibe. Robin had brewed his own beer, as favours for the guests. It was such a great personal touch and went down very well. For dinner, they had pie and mash, and it was a great choice!
After the meal, they had some wonderful speeches, with plenty of laughs and tears. It was then time for the evening celebrations. After the first dance and everyone hit the dancefloor and the party really got going! The band was amazing and kept the dance floor filled.
It was such a wonderful day. A really unique London wedding and one I had such fun photographing.
“The photos are amazing. You captured so many hidden moments in the day (so stealthy we often didn’t know you were there) and most of all you were really fun to work with. You are a fantastic photographer, and gave us loads of help and recommendations…. you basically became our wedding planner! Thanks.” – Lauren & Robin
I’m thrilled to share that Lauren & Robin’s wedding is featured in the March/April 2019 issue of Your London Wedding Magazine.
