A beautiful rustic style wedding at Gate Street Barn in Surrey
When Carla and Marcos first got in touch with me about their Gate Street Barn wedding, I was so happy. They were planning a relaxed barn wedding with dried flowers and rustic decor, plus their dog was coming along as a wedding guest! If I wasn’t already excited that definitely topped it. Carla and Marcos are a fabulous couple and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Bride & Groom getting ready at Gate Street Barn
Both Carla and Marcos got ready at Gate Street Barn, so my morning was spent dashing between the two rooms, capturing the excitement and build up to the wedding ceremony. It was laid back and fun time, because everyone was in a good mood. Carla wore a gorgeous boho style dress and Marcos wore a navy suit and they looked really amazing. Carla left her hair loose and finished her look with a flower crown made of dried flowers.
Gate Street Barn wedding ceremony
The wedding took place in the main barn, and it was a beautiful ceremony. There were so many smiles and happy faces as the couple exchanged their vows. After the ceremony they walked down the aisle together, and then through the confetti tunnel leading the way to the drinks reception on the lawn.
The wedding reception and evening party
The wedding reception took place on the lawn outside, overlooking fields and cows. It’s such a picturesque place. It was a mixed day, with sunshine and cloud (and the odd shower), but overall a lovely Spring day, which was quite beautiful. While the guests hung around enjoying drinks and canapés, the couple mingled while I took candids. I took some group photos during the drinks reception and as the guests were about to be called into dinner whisked the couple off for some photos in the grounds.
The wedding breakfast was set up in the main Barn. Carla and Marcos had chosen to use dried flowers, which I LOVE. I’m a big fan of dried flowers and they looked gorgeous with the rustic style of the barn.
Carla and Marcos entered the barn with loud cheers. They went straight into speeches. It was an emotional time with speeches from Carla’s parents and Marcos. The best men brought a few laughs at the end.
Their gorgeous little dog, Hector, made a second appearance after dinner, so we took a walk to capture some photos with him. Carla had one last surprise for Marcos… check out the photos and her personalised leather jacket. As we returned it was time to cut the cake and get the dancing started. The cherry on the cake of this gorgeous wedding was fresh pizzas for the evening food. Heaven!
I had the loveliest message from Carla and Marcos…
“Hi Fiona, Thank you so much for sending the photos over, I have been obsessively refreshing my email inbox! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything on the day. You were the perfect blend of being there to reassure me, making me feel like everything was under control, and also effortlessly blending into the background to get some great natural photos which I don’t remember being taken!”
