Sunrise engagement shoot at Botany Bay
When Gemma and Jon first suggested doing their engagement shoot on a beach I was very happy! Living in London I don’t get to visit the beach that often, so when one of my couples wants to travel to the coast for a shoot I am more than happy to do that.
I like to ask my couples to choose where they want their engagement shoot. For Gemma and Jon, this was easy. Firstly, the beach is somewhere they love, they are clearly very happy walking hand in hand barefoot across the sand. Secondly, we needed somewhere with cliffs. Gemma and Jon first met through a love of climbing. It’s something they both enjoy and a big part of their lives. Finding a location that had awesome cliffs, as well as a beautiful beach, seemed to tick all the boxes!
My suggestion to them was to do a shoot at either sunrise or sunset. After checking out a few beaches that were easy reach from London I came across Botany Bay. The sun rises over the sea, making it a beautiful sunrise location. Add to that amazing cliffs and golden sand and it was THE place.
The morning of the engagement shoot arrived and a very early start saw me heading down the M20 at 5.30 am! It was definitely worth the early alarm. The sun rose on the most perfect day. Not a cloud in the sky, a soft breeze and a deserted beach. We wandered, chatted wedding plans, talked about how Gemma and Jon met and how Jon proposed. It was a really lovely, laid back morning. The photos definitely capture this lovely couple and the beautiful morning we had.
Enjoy this sunrise engagement shoot at Botany Bay!
Gemma and Jon chose to have an engagement shoot as they were both a little daunted about the idea of having photos taken on their wedding day. Find out all about engagement photography and engagement shoot top tips.
I am really looking forward to photographing Gemma & Jon’s wedding in 2019.
Thanks for popping by
