Olivia and Bryn’s pretty, fun-filled Summer wedding at Busbridge Lakes in Surrey.
From my first chat with Olivia and Bryn, I wanted to photograph their wedding at Busbridge Lakes in Surrey. They are one of the loveliest couples and exude a warmth and happiness that is a joy to be around. They clearly love spending time together, laugh a lot but most of all they were just so excited to be getting married.
Olivia and Bryn wanted to do an engagement shoot to help with a few pre-wedding photo nerves. We met up in Cambridge to do this, the town where they had gone to University and the place they had met. Here are the photos from their Cambridge engagement shoot. An engagement shoot is a great way for a couple to feel more at ease having their photo taken. It’s also a great way for me to get to know the bride and groom to be.
The day of the wedding arrived and it ended up being one of the hottest days of the Summer. Olivia chose to get ready at her Mum’s house, which is just a few hundred meters from the church. It was a lovely morning with Olivia, her family and her bridesmaids. The excitement built as everyone got ready. Olivia looked effortlessly elegant in her beautiful Justin Alexander dress. I definitely had dress envy for that wedding dress! She chose to take a few moments with just her family before seeing her bridesmaids. The moment her brother and sister saw her all dressed and ready to go was very emotional. There were big hugs and some tears. They really are a wonderfully close family and this came across in the love that was felt at that moment.
Olivia chose to walk to the church, followed by her bridesmaids and family. As we arrived the last few stragglers were running into the church. During the ceremony, there was a perfect balance of joy, laughter and emotional moments. After quite a few kisses Olivia and Bryn walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, ready to celebrate with their friends and family.
I arrived for the wedding reception at Busbridge Lakes and it felt like I had discovered a little hidden gem. Walking through the gate you see a beautiful lake surrounded by lawns and gardens. There are swans and ducks roaming free and swimming on the lake. The garden is a gorgeous mix of wild and landscaped. The sun shone down as guests arrived and Olivia and Bryn made their entrance to cheers and confetti. Olivia made a small speech, thanking everyone and toasting her new husband. She announced that she had planned a little surprise for him and their guests. Bang on cue the Mariachi Band walked around the corner! This was such great entertainment during the reception.
Before long it was time for dinner. Guests entered the prettily decorated marquee, which overlooked the lake. There were rustic summer flowers on each table, greenery hung from the ceiling (thanks to Chobham Flowers) and a delicious looking ‘naked’ cake sat in the corner (courtesy of The Crumby Bakery). Sally Iddles was the talented lady behind the gorgeous meal. I happily went back for seconds!
The gorgeous, sunny day turned into a warm and beautiful evening. I grabbed a few moments with the happy couple for some photos as the sun started going down. Olivia’s brother sang for their first dance and there wasn’t a dry eye as they held each other close and slowly danced around the dance floor. As the band struck up the first song of the evening, the mood changed from happy and emotional to fun and lively. The band they hired was Soul Beat and they were amazing. It took them no time to have everyone up and leaping around having the best time.
I enjoyed every minute of Olivia and Bryn’s special day. It was a total joy to photograph their wedding at Busbridge Lakes. Do enjoy it too!
