Romantic Springtime wedding by the river in South London
If you love pretty flowers and floaty dresses then you’ll love this gorgeous Springtime wedding!
Charlotte and Alex got married at St Mary’s Church, Barnes, in April. It was a beautiful romantic Springtime wedding. With pretty flowers, bunting hanging from the ceiling and lavender plants on the tables.
Getting ready at home
Charlotte got ready at the couple’s home in Herne Hill with her bridesmaids and parents. There was such a calm feel to the morning. When I arrived the preparations were nearly done. All the bridesmaids looked fabulous with hair styled and makeup done. Charlotte was finishing up her own makeup and having a few quiet moments before getting into her dress. She wore a long floaty Gillian Million dress, with delicate lace detail, and looked so beautiful. After a little glass of fizz to get the celebrations going, the group travelled in black cabs to the ceremony. Their wedding bus was already at the church, attracting lots of attention. When Charlotte arrived there was a small crowd on onlookers waiting to cheers and shout their congratulations. This is one of the fun things about London weddings, there are always people ready to share in the joy.
Alex got ready a little distance away with his ushers and best man. My assistant spent the morning with the guys, capturing the events and helping to put buttonholes on jackets (all part of the service!). He wore traditional tails and waistcoat with a pink tie and looked really handsome. The guys travelled to the ceremony by cab, making a short pitstop at a nearby pub for a drink or two, before heading to the church to meet the guests.
The church ceremony
The ceremony took place at a beautiful church in Barnes. It was simple, heartfelt and perfect for the two of them. The ceremony began with some beautiful readings and finished with a big cheer and celebration from the newly married couple. It was a wonderful ceremony, full of smiles and lots of cheer.
After the ceremony, we did a number of family photos outside the church. The door to the church had been decorated with flowers and made the perfect backdrop for the photos.
As the guests made their way to the reception by bus, I travelled with Charlotte & Alex so we could get a few photos of the two of them by the river in Putney. It’s a great chance for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. I got some lovely, relaxed couples photos by the river. Thames Rowing Club is right next to the Thames, which gives great views and fabulous photo opportunities. The weather was fresh and sunny, a perfect day for a romantic Springtime wedding.
The reception at Thames Rowing Club
For the reception, the couple had planned drinks and canapes. As the weather was so lovely the couple and their guests made the most of the terrace. After some time to chat and catch up over drinks, everyone called in for dinner. They had speeches after the meal, which were really fun. Lots of tales being shared and stories told!
The evening party
After dinner, everyone was moved to the bar area, where coffee was served while the room was turned around ready for the party. Once everything was ready, the couple cut the cake and then led the way to the dancefloor for the first dance. The live band kept the party going all night. The singers got involved, made their way onto the dance floor and made sure everyone was having a great time.
The whole wedding was fabulous, from the stunning dress to the beautiful vows and crazy dancing. I loved this romantic Springtime wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a London wedding photographer, get in touch. Here are the photos!
