A romantic spring Kew Gardens wedding
If you’re planning a spring Kew Gardens wedding, you’ll love this for inspiration!
When Sophie and James first got in touch with me about their wedding, I was so excited – they were planning a beautiful spring wedding with a church ceremony and at the church Sophie’s parents got married at and a beautiful reception at Kew Gardens for the reception. Sophie and James are the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Getting ready at Coach & Horses
I started at Coach & Horses on Kew Green, where the bridal party were getting ready together, and it was a wonderful morning, because everyone was excited and the fizz was flowing. Sophie wore a beautiful white strapless dress with lace top and James wore elegant morning suit with tails and they looked really incredible.
The ceremony at St Annes Church on Kew Green
The wedding took place at St Anne’s Church on Kew Green, and was beautiful, traditional church ceremony. They had wonderful readings and a very special ceremony, which was perfect for Sophie and James. After the ceremony they walked down the aisle together and I captured a photo that was inspired by a photo from Sophies parents wedding, and then we did a confetti tunnel outside the church door. The church is a very special place for Sophie and her family so we did a few family photos outside the entrance. Sophie and James then led their guests across the green to Cambridge Cottage at Kew Gardens.
After the ceremony at Kew Gardens
The wedding reception took place at Cambridge Cottage in Kew Gardens, which is a gorgeous Georgian building nestled at the edge of Kew Gardens. A former royal residence its elegant, spacious and filled with light. It’s a perfect place for a wedding reception, especially in spring when the gardens are blooming!
It was a bright and sunny day, which was what the couple had hoped for. While the guests enjoyed canapés and drinks in the garden, the couple mingled while I took candids. Sophie and James chose Kew Gardens as they love the place. They were keen to capture as many photos as the good around the gardens so we jumped on the golf buggy and heading around Kew Gardens. Spring was being kind to us and we found some beautiful places for photos and the most fabulous magnolia trees to do photos by.
After dinner there were some wonderful speeches. The day got even better as we got the most fabulous sunset so took a walk to capture golden hour photos.
It was soon time for dancing and Sophie and James took to the floor for their first dance. Their guests joined them on the dance floor and were clearly ready to party the night away.
I loved being part of this gorgeous Kew Gardens wedding. This is one of my favourite places in London and photographing weddings here is always a treat.
Lovely words from Sophie & James
“Fiona, wow! They are stunning! Thank you soooo much. I honestly don’t know how we’re going to choose which ones to print! I spent all of my work day yesterday looking through them. Sophie & James x x x”
