Sunny sunflowers and so much fun at Debbie & Chris’s Pembroke Lodge Wedding
I really can’t explain properly how much fun I had photographing Debbie and Chris’s Pembroke Lodge wedding. These guys are the loveliest couple. Sometimes doing this job you just click with a couple and it is honestly like you spend the day hanging out with friends. This is what it was like. I met Debbie and Chris after photographing the wedding of one of their friends. They came to me from a very nice recommendation, which is always a wonderful start. Not only did I get to spend the day with them, but I got to catch up with their friends and my past couples too.
The day began at The Richmond Gate hotel, where both the bride and groom were getting ready. Lots of laughter, a few drinks, fighting with a bow tie or two (for the guys), everyone getting dressed up and looking fabulous. The couple had chosen a colour scheme of yellow and dark blue. The bridesmaids wore dark blue dresses, the groomsmen navy suits and the main flower was the sunflower. The silk flower bouquet and buttonholes had been made by the maid of honour. Soon it was time to head for Pembroke Lodge and to get married. Chris and his groomsmen chose to walk through Richmond Park. Debbie had a slightly more elegant journey, riding in a vintage car.
The wedding took place in the Russell Suite at Pembroke Lodge. A lovely ceremony with plenty of love and laughter. Debbie and Chris smiled and laughed so much, it was impossible not to feel the joy of the moment. They made their exit as husband and wife to a barrage of confetti (always fun). The drinks reception took place in the garden, the guests and the new Mr & Mrs, enjoying the sunny weather and the balmy day. After some time chatting, mingling and catching up with their loved ones I whisked them off for a walk around the grounds. A little time away to catch their breath and get some photos together. On our return, it was time for dinner.
Debbie and Chris made their entrance to rapturous applause and lots of cheering. They smiled their way through the meal, giggled during the cake cutting and laughed their way through the speeches. I’m pretty sure they had very achy faces by the end of the day. Why would you not be so happy when you are marrying your best friend and surrounded by all your favourite people in the whole world.
I took the opportunity to take the couple for a few more photos in the early evening light. The sun was setting and we wandered into Richmond Park to chase the light. Debbie, ever the laid-back bride, took her shoes off to walk barefoot through the long grass. Enjoying some relaxed time together we wandered and chatted and I captured some beautiful, natural and fun photos of the two of them. The dance floor beckoned so we made our way back to the wedding. The first dance was as fun as the rest of the day and when the party started everyone fully joined in.
After a bit of dance floor action, I left the gorgeous couple and their mad happy guests to party the night away. I smiled so much during this day, it really was a total pleasure to be a part of this wonderful Pembroke Lodge wedding and photograph two amazing people. Enjoy!
