Queens House wedding photography
During my 14 years of photographing weddings and elopements I have worked at some truly amazing wedding venues. There are so many that I love so thought I would share some of my favourites with a series of Wedding Venue Spotlight posts. Hopefully this will help if you are searching for a wedding venue in London or the surrounding counties. Ill be sharing some information about each venue along with a selection of photographs that I have taken at the venue.
I am starting with Queens House in Greenwich. Queens House is managed by Royal Museums Greenwich (who also look after Cutty Sark, Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum and Planetarium). I have been on their recommended supplier list for a number of years for all their venues.
Queens House is a very special place and somewhere I love working at. You can’t miss Queens House when you walk through Greenwich Park. The beautiful white building dates from the 1630’s and would not look out of place on the set of Bridgerton! It was commissioned by James I as a gift to his wife, Queen Anne of Denmark. It was designed by architect Inigo Jones and originally built as a ‘house of delight’. Offering a luxurious retreat for Kings and Queens and a place for the royal court to relax and have fun. It was also a thriving studio for artists and craftsmen. Now it serves as a gallery and event space.
There are a few reasons why I love Queens House. Firstly it just looks beautiful inside and out! The Great Hall has a stunning black and white tiled floor and elegant large windows, filling the space with light. Then there are the colonnades. They are a perfect place for photos whatever the weather. When its time to party you go downstairs to the undercroft, which is like going to a cool underground club! Finally, one of my favourite things about Queens House is the tulip staircase.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of photographing weddings, elopements, proposals and engagement shoots at Queens House and in Greenwich Park. It really is a very special place.
As a venue they some amazing suppliers that they recommend. This is another reason why I love to do Queens House wedding photography. I know it’s going to look amazing, have delicious food and be well run, meaning you will have the best day!
