An elegant summer wedding at Queens House with a bespoke wedding dress
When Ellie and Fran first got in touch with me about their Queens House wedding photography I was so excited – they were planning an elegant and stylish wedding with their loved ones, many of whom were flying in. They hoped for a drinks party outside, making the most of the gorgeous location for the reception. Ellie and Fran are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
They chose to add an engagement shoot to their package as a way to get used to having their photo taken. It was great fun to spend a few hours with them before the day, capturing some relaxed photos of the two of them around Greenwich Park.
Getting ready at home
I started at Ellie & Fran’s home, where the bride and her friends were getting ready, and it was so much fun. Everyone was in a good mood, the fizz was flowing and sun was shining, promising a fabulous day ahead. Ellie wore a beautiful bespoke wedding dress that had been made just for her. It had a deep v front and back, with flowing skirts and sequin details. Very elegant! The bridesmaids were all wearing gorgeous dark green dresses, which looked wonderful with the bouquets of pink, green and white flowers.
Fran got ready a short distance away in a hotel with his groomsmen. They travelled on the river down to Greenwich where they met with some of their guests for a drink before heading to Queens House. Fran wore a navy suit with grey waistcoat, which looked really very stylish.
The wedding ceremony at Queens House
The wedding took place in the Great Hall in Queens House, and was wonderful ceremony. The couple had some beautiful readings, which were really personal and brought a few tears. The ceremony was emotional and so very happy. After the ceremony Ellie and Fran walked down the aisle together, and made a grand exit beneath the steps to masses of confetti. They then led their guests into the sunshine for drinks and canapés.
The drinks reception & evening party
The drinks reception took place outside Queens House, overlooking Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory. It was a beautifully sunny day, which was glorious. While the guests enjoyed canapés and cocktails, the couple mingled and laughed with their friends. The wedding breakfast was set up in the Great hall, which was beautifully decorated in green, pink and white flowers with lots of greenery. Their cake design echoed the wedding colours, with rich green and white and pearl details. Everything looked very beautiful and elegant.
I do love capturing Queens House wedding photography. The venue is gorgeous and there are so many unique places and elements of the day. Once all the guests are seated, the bride and groom are announced into the room. They make their entrance from the mezzanine above the Great Hall, being cheered all the way as they walk down the Tulip Staircase and into the room. It’s a fabulous moment!
After dinner Ellie and Fran had some wonderful speeches and which brought a few emotional moments, some happy tears and plenty of laughter. The evening party took place downstairs in the undercroft. Fran and his mum did a dance first, and then the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance. They were soon joined by their friends and the party got going. I whisked the couple outside for a few evening photos, before leaving them to party the night away.
