A very pretty Lancashire wedding with beautiful rustic flowers
I totally loved photographing Jane & Owen’s pretty Lancashire wedding. Not only did it mean I got to go back up north to photograph a wedding (my roots are in the Lake District and I have family in Lancashire) but it was the most fabulous day. Jane and Owen are very chilled people and wanted a laid back wedding day that reflected that. Owen’s family travelled from Ireland to join Jane’s family and all their friends for a proper celebration.
The couple got married in the local Catholic church and held their reception at The White Hart in Lydgate. After the ceremony the bride and groom and I took a little detour to the river and canal for photos. Jane and Owen wanted photos on the stepping stones over the river, so I waded in to get the photo of the couple. Well worth wet feet and damp trousers!
On arrival at the pub the couple were met by an arch of snorkels and lots of confetti. Such a perfect welcome for a couple who love to scuba dive and snorkel!
The weather could not have been better, with a warm breeze, a cloudless sky and sunshine galore. After a relaxed drinks reception the newly married couple joined their cheering guests for dinner. The speeches followed, bringing laughter and tears as both bride and groom said a few words, along with the grooms dad, the brides dad and the best man (who was the grooms brother and had put together a brilliant slideshow as part of his speech).
The glorious day turned into a stunning evening with the most beautiful light streaming across the hills. I took the opportunity to whisk Jane and Owen out for a few moments to make the most of the gorgeous sunset and golden hour light. We returned in time for first dance and party time. I left everyone dancing and having the best time.
