A beautiful, relaxed Stratton Court Barn wedding in Oxfordshire
If you’re planning a relaxed Spring wedding at Stratton Court Barn, you’ll love this!
Catherine & James had the most beautiful, relaxed Spring wedding at Stratton Court Barn. This was one of my first weddings last year, as restrictions were starting to be removed, and it was such a joy to be a part of such a special day.
The sun was shining and there was so much anticipation that this day was finally here. Due to some ongoing limits to the number of guests, it was a fairly small and intimate wedding. But this didn’t dampen the joy and happiness of the day in the slightest.
excitement before the wedding
I started at the venue where Catherine was getting ready, while my assistant spent the morning with James. At Stratton Court Barn, the bride and her family were getting ready hanging out before the ceremony, and it was a relaxed morning with the excitement building as it got closer to the time. Everyone was in such a good mood. The nerves kicked in a little as James arrived at the venue and Catherine got into her dress. There was a heartfelt moment as Catherine shared gifts and for her and her mum and dad it all became real!
the ceremony in the Stratton Court Barn
The wedding took place in the main barn, and was the loveliest service. They had a few happy tears as they shared vows and exchanges rings. After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then they were showered with confetti as they excited the building for the drinks reception.
drinks reception in the sun
The wedding reception took place outside. It was a beautifully sunny day, which was glorious. Catherine, James and their guests relaxed enjoying the sunshine and a chance to catch up with everyone. While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, the couple mingled and laughed with their friends.
The couple had arranged for lawn games, which went down a storm, especially after a few drinks when the competitive streaks came out!
Dinner was called and everyone went for food. Afterwards, they had some wonderful speeches. Emotional, funny, heartfelt and just lovely. The speeches are always a fun part of the day, and great to photograph.
the evening reception at Stratton Court Barn
After dinner it was time for cake cutting and first dance. Catherine & James danced together cheered on by their guests and then led everyone outside to enjoy the evening warmth and drinks and games in the garden. They had bought a few smoke bombs so we took a wander to have some fun with sunset photos. A sign of the times but as dancing wasn’t allowed the evening finished with sparklers as the newly married couple headed to their car for a grand send off (tin cans and all!)
A wonderful wedding for a wonderful couple and a real pleasure to be a part of this special day.
