A gorgeous Summer Outdoor wedding at The Barn Yard
On a beautiful, hot summer day Sam & Chris married. They chose an outdoor wedding at The Barn Yard in Kent. This was a fun wedding for me to photograph as I had got to know Sam when she modelled for me during a shoot for milliner Katie Vale. Katie is one of Sam’s friends and was a bridesmaid for the day.
I arrived for the bridal prep to a house full. Ten bridesmaids, Sam’s mum, a couple of friends popping by and hair & make up made for a fun, hectic and lively morning. It was soon time for Sam to get into her stunning Jenny Packham dress. I love that she chose to wear pretty flat sandals. The sun shone as the time arrived for Sam to walk down the aisle to Chris to get married. They chose an outdoor wedding, marrying under the little gazebo in the garden area of The Barn Yard. There were happy tears all round during the ceremony, with Sam, Chris and a number of the guests feeling the emotion of the moment. After the ceremony there was a surprise for the newly married couple as two of Sam’s bridesmaids sang a song for them. It was the loveliest thing and a wonderful gift.
The reception followed with drinks in the garden and the guests enjoying the warm summer day. I took a wander with Sam & Chris into the apple orchard for some photos. Apart from having a slight incident with a nettle and having to quickly find a dockleaf to sort the nettle sting it was great fun and a lovely place for couples photos. We wandered back to the marquee, where all the guests were seated for dinner. Rapturous applause met Sam & Chris as they entered. They had chosen a fabulously fun theme for the tables, The Mad Hatters Tea Party. Tables were adorned with giant tea cups holding flowers, playing cards were used as place names, mix-matched tea cups were used for drinks, teapot bunting adorned the ceiling of the marquee and food and drink were labelled ‘eat me’ and ‘drink me’.
After the meal it was time for speeches. Sam’s mum said a few words, followed by Sam’s sister, then Chris and his best man. Lots of laughs and a fair amount of tears met these speeches. My little tip of ‘looking up’ to help avoid panda eyes and running mascara was used a lot through these speeches!
A beautiful day turned into a stunning evening a with a glorious sunset, so I took the opportunity for another little wander into the orchard with the couple for some ‘golden hour’ portraits. This is my favourite time of the day for photos. As we walked round the orchard we could see the guests wandering around the little farm that is part of The Barn Yard. A really fun thing to do with for the kids and the adults.
The evening celebrations kicked off with music by a friends band, the very talented The Magic Tones. I left the happy couple dancing the night away surrounded by friends and family. Celebrating a really wonderful day.
