A stylish outdoor wedding at Leez Priory in Essex
On a warm day in July, Charlie and Gregg said ‘I do’ in a wonderful outdoor wedding at Leez Priory. In true British weather style we had one or two challenges. As the morning preparations went on the cloudy sky grew darker, threatening the outdoor ceremony the couple were planning. Brief glimpses of sunshine gave us some hope and as the groom started welcoming guests and the bride got into her wedding dress and made ready to get married the clouds lightened.
A ceremony held in the great outdoors is always lovely and at Leez Priory the couple stands under the tower overlooking the large lawn. Charlie and Greggs ceremony was lovely, with personal readings and lots of happy smiles. As the new Mr and Mrs signed the register and made their way back down the aisle the clouds came in again. It was as if the weather knew it had to wait as the moment the bride and groom entered the main building the heavens opened.
Standing by the large open doorway watching the rainfall it was hard to remember it was July! Happily, the rain passed as quickly as it arrived. The sun came out, the temperature rose and the puddles began to dry. Bride, groom and their guests flocked back out to the lawn to enjoy the rest of the reception outside. After one or two drinks we rounded up friends and family members for a few group photos, using the beautiful wooden doors as a backdrop. It was then time for me to whisk the newly married couple away for a walk in the grounds and some relaxed portraits. As the bride and groom, getting a little time together during the wedding day is a really special thing to do.
The reception drinks ended and guests were guided through the grounds to the coach house for dinner and speeches. By the early evening the sun was out and shining as if the earlier rain showers had never happened. Charlie and Gregg had their first dance outdoors on the large lawn. After the more formal dancing the guests joined in and the Greek dancing started! This really kicked off the evening celebrations. Some guests were dancing, others taking advantage of the giant lawn games, while others relaxed in the evening sun.
As the sun disappeared the bride, groom and a handful of guests grabbed sparklers. It was time for a bit of light painting fun (and pretending to be wizards with wands). The bride’s brother got a little carried away, thinking that lighting 10 sparklers was a good idea and got a bit of a shock when he nearly burned his eyebrows off!
Charlie and Greggs wedding at Leez Priory was such a fun day. Even with temperamental weather at times, everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a wonderful day to capture.
