A laid back & stylish Horniman Museum wedding & reception at Lordship Pub
If you’re planning a laid back & stylish London wedding, you’ll love this wedding for inspiration!
When Jess and Iain first got in touch with me about their Horniman Museum wedding, I was so excited. They were planning a really fun, stylish & personal wedding with a civil ceremony and drinks reception at the Horniman Museum and a cosy pub dinner for the reception. Jess and Iain are the nicest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Getting ready at home
I started at Jess & Iain’s home in South London, where the bride and her bridesmaids and family were getting ready together. It was a very relaxed and fun morning, with a few emotional moments. Everyone was in a great mood and really looking forward to the day ahead. Jess wore a classic white dress, which had been made for her. Jess had a helping hand with final touches from one of her bridesmaids, who happens to be a stylist. Very useful on a wedding morning!
The ceremony at Horniman Museum
The wedding took place at The Horniman Conservatory and was a wonderful ceremony. So many smiling faces and a few happy tears. After the ceremony, Jess’s brother in law played the guitar while they signed the register. They then walked down the aisle to cheers from their guests.
The afternoon & evening receptions
The celebrations were a two-part reception, starting with drinks at the Horniman. While the guests enjoyed a few drinks, the couple mingled and laughed with their friends. We took the opportunity to get some family photos and small group shots. I then whisked Jess and Iain off for a wander around the Horniman gardens for some photos of the two of them. It was soon time to make our way to the second part of the reception. The evening was to be spent at The Lordship Pub in East Dulwich. Jess and Iain had arranged for a red London Bus to transport everyone, so we all piled on the bus and we were off to part two of the celebrations.
It was an overcast day with rain here and there, which wasn’t in the plan but no one minded or really noticed. Once at the pub, Jess and Iain were greeted by confetti and cheers. While the guests enjoyed drinks at the bar and found their seats, the couple caught up with their guests.
During the reception, they had a delicious pub lunch, which went down a storm. Afterwards, they had some wonderful speeches. Lots of laughter and plenty of emotional moments as Jess’s dad, Jess, Iain and two of his best men all said a few words. After dinner and speeches, it was time for the party to get going. They had a DJ, who was a huge hit, and after the first dance, the dance floor was heaving for the whole night.
It was so much fun being a part of Jess and Iain wedding. Hope you enjoy browsing through this fabulous, fun and stylish Horniman Museum wedding.
