A relaxed outdoor garden wedding at Horniman Museum

If you’re planning a laid back outdoor wedding, and love pretty flowers, you will love this wedding for inspiration

When Molly and Johnny first got in touch with me about their wedding I was so happy. They were planning a relaxed outdoor wedding with a ceremony in the Horniman bandstand, with a ceilidh for the evening party. Molly and Johnny are the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

The outdoor garden wedding ceremony in the Horniman Bandstand

The wedding took place in the bandstand at the Horniman Museum and Gardens and was a beautiful outdoor ceremony. It was an emotional ceremony, with a few happy tears, as the couple said their vows surrounded by their loved ones. After the ceremony, they walked down the aisle together, and then the celebrations began. There were hugs and kisses and so many happy faces as everyone grabbed a drink and mingled. The Horniman garden is a beautiful setting for a wedding reception, especially when the weather is gorgeous. After a little while, the guests lined up on the steps and showered the couple with confetti. We took a few moments to do some family photos at this point. Towards the end of the drinks reception, I took Molly and Johnny for a wander around the gardens and a few relaxed photos of the two of them.

The pretty wedding reception in the Horniman Conservatory

The dinner and evening wedding reception took place In the Horniman conservatory, which was decorated with the most gorgeous flowers and personal touches.

After a delicious meal, they had some wonderful speeches. The bride’s dad was followed by the grooms mum, both sharing brilliant stories. Then it was time for both of Johnny’s best men to say a few words, to much laughter from the guests. The speeches were rounded up by the groom.

The couple had booked a ceilidh band for the evening, so while the band set up the couple and their guests enjoyed the beautiful warm evening with drinks outside. A ceilidh band really does bring the fun and Molly and Johnny chose to dive straight into the group dancing in lieu of a first dance. Risking stomped toes I got into the mix to get some brilliant photos of everyone having fun and trying to get the moves right!

It was a truly wonderful day and a real pleasure to photograph Molly and Johnny’s relaxed outdoor garden wedding.
