A London adventure and family photography
At the beginning of this year, Antonia and her family visited London from the U.S. While she and her husband had been a few times before, it was the first trip with the whole family. They were really looking forward to their London family adventure.
Super keen to get some photos as a reminder of their holiday, she got in touch to chat about London family photography. We discussed options and ideas, working out where they wanted to go and what they wanted photos of. I came up with a route for and we were ready to go.
On a cold and cloudy January morning, we met at The London Eye. I like to meet early for London family photos as its the best way to avoid the crowds. After all the emails with Antonia, it was so lovely to finally chat in person and to meet her family. They were having an amazing time visiting the sites and were looking forward to their London family adventure.
We walked, chatted and I took photos as the kids laughed and giggled and ran away from pigeons. As well as capturing the documentary family photos, we also stopped at various points on the way so we could do photos in smaller groups and as a whole family group. Antonia was keen to get some relaxed portraits of them all.
Our route took us from the London Eye, across Westminster Bridge towards Parliament Square and then onto Horseguards Parade. We stopped for photos by a red phone box (which the kids thought was great). From Horseguards it was a relaxed wander through St James’s Park to Buckingham Palace. At this time of the day, in January, there weren’t many other people out and about. It was easy to get photos at these iconic London landmarks without the usual crowds. As we began our walk back up The Mall we were lucky to see the Royal Cavalry making their way along the road. The penultimate stop was Trafalgar Square and photos with the Lions was a must for Antonia, Jeffrey and the kids! Our last stop was Covent Garden, which was looking wonderfully Christmassy. A few photos by the massive Christmas tree and our London family adventure and family photography session was finished.
As they went for hot chocolates to warm up I headed home. It was the nicest morning and I really enjoyed hanging out with this lovely family.
Enjoy these photos and if you are looking to do your own London family adventure and would love some family photos along the way, get in touch!
