Laura & George’s rustic garden party wedding at the brides family home
I’m really happy to share Laura & George’s wonderful rustic garden party wedding today. There are so many very special things about this wedding, it really was a day that had been brought together by all the family.
I first heard from Laura & George when they entered the competition I ran on Love My Dress blog to win their wedding photography. They weren’t the winners but I was thrilled that they decided to book me to photograph their day anyway.
They married in the pretty church in the little village of Boxley in Kent and held their reception in Laura’s parents garden in beautifully decorated teepees. Paper birds, lanterns, giant balloons in the pink, yellow & orange bright wedding colours, as well as lots of lovely little personal touches made the whole place look amazing.
The garden is a very special space, with the ruins of an old mill being a feature, alongside a stream that flows right through the garden. It really is a wonderful spot that feels more than a little magical. Laura’s dad and mum had worked for over a year to get the garden tidied, planted and all looking amazing in time for the wedding. They weren’t the only ones who had put skills to good use. George is a carpenter and had used his talents to create many of the lovely DIY touches that decorated the reception. From the wooden table centrepieces, personalised place settings and their names in wooden lettering to the amazing wooden arch the couple walked through to join their guests. Georges skills for creating beautiful things for the wedding had actually started when he made a bespoke box and wooden ring to ask Laura to marry him. A very unique and personal way to propose that inspired the decorations and feel for the wedding itself. It wasn’t just George who had been busy making things. The miles of cute VW bunting was handmade and the hand-tied multi-coloured bouquets by Hunkerdown Daisy fitted with the relaxed style perfectly.
Laura’s beautiful lacy dress, bought from Isabella Grace boutique, was accessorised by glittery Kate Spade shoes and with her bridesmaids, who all wore the prettiest Ted Baker dresses, they looked perfect for an English country garden wedding. A VW Beetle took Laura to the church, she was followed by her bridesmaids in a vintage VW camper van.
It was an absolutely perfect day and no one cared that the weather didn’t play ball at all with full-on sunshine followed by the most torrential rain and thunder. Drinks were drunk, dancing was danced, the tree swing in the garden was swung on and a lot of fun was had by all. Enjoy this wedding, it really was a relaxed day all about celebrating with friends and family, with a beautifully natural and rustic feel.
