How to Look Your Best for Your Wedding Photos
Your wedding photos will capture amazing moments and time spent with your favourite people. You will go back over these photos time and time again as you relive the day. Wedding photos are something that requires an investment of both time and money so making sure you feel and look your best on the day will help you relax and enjoy yourself. And this definitely comes across in the photos. Follow these top tips in the run-up to the day so you feel and look your best for your wedding photos.
• Skincare prep
Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life and you want everything to run smoothly. When it comes to looking your best, there are things that you can do in the days leading up to the big day. For starters, you’ll want to nail down the perfect skincare routine to ensure that you won’t have an unruly breakout. Washing and moisturizing your face daily will set up the foundation to make sure that you have glowing skin. Make sure to eat a healthy diet and avoid too many boozy drinks, as this can play havoc with your skin. A few days before your wedding, use an exfoliating face mask to make sure your skin is in its best condition. It is best to use products that you have tried out before to reduce the risk of having an adverse reaction.
• Your Hair & Makeup
Your wedding day all about you, your partner and your loved one, and who wouldn’t want to look and feel awesome? Aside from looking after your skin, there are a few other things that you can do to make yourself feel your best. First, choose a dress that makes you feel fabulous and fits like a glove. You don’t want to spend the day adjusting or holding up your dress. You will know when you find it the perfect dress. Its the one that you won’t want to take off!
Next, think about your hair and make-up. Some of my brides choose to do their own makeup, as they are confident in doing it. If you prefer the idea of having someone take care of that side of things on the day then choose a professional hair & makeup artist who’s style suits what you are looking for. Lots of my brides choose to go with something more neutral and natural, this way they feel like themselves but on the best day ever! Having a professional can help reduce stress and make sure your hair and makeup will stay in place all day.
• Shaving & grooming
Just like your soon to be spouse, there are a few things to do to get you looking your best. After nailing down your skincare routine, the next item on your checklist should be getting your hair in check. Scheduling an appointment with your barber a few days prior to your wedding is a great place to begin! Tidying up your hairstyle is a must. Whether you choose to keep your facial hair or go clean shaved for your big day, it is important to look tidy and groomed. Using the proper shaving products like shaving cream, a trusted razor and some beard oil is essential to make sure that you don’t end up with unsightly problems like razor bumps, knicks, and cuts. You want a smooth shave and tight edges to look your best for your wedding photos. Making sure you have a fresh cut and a trimmed beard will surely make a difference in how you feel on the day.
• Relax and Enjoy
We all know that it can be hard to feel relaxed when you are standing in front of lots of people and are the focus of so much attention. When you then add in a few cameras, pointed directly at you and your significant other, it can feel very odd and be a little uncomfortable for some. In order to get the best out of your wedding photos, you need to be relaxed. The more relaxed and natural you look in front of the lens the better. This will not only give you fabulous candid shots and capture the amount of love you share, but it will also allow you to enjoy your day to the fullest. Try to focus on the fun of the day, enjoy spending time with all your favourite people and forget about the camera. My style is approach is natural wedding photography, which means I work in a very unobtrusive way and keep things relaxed and fun. This way I can capture so many amazing photos while you and your guests aren’t even aware and the time we spend doing portraits are just as easy.
Skincare, the right hair, and make-up are all key to making sure you look your best for your wedding photos but don’t be afraid to leave the rest of the work to your photographer!
