Jennie & Edward’s elegant Moor Park Mansion wedding
I have such a soft spot for Jennie & Edward’s wedding. From the first time I chatted to Jennie, I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding. Happily, they felt the same, so on a gorgeous sunny summers day, I headed to Hertfordshire to capture their beautiful, elegant and very fun wedding day.
Jennie got ready at her parents home, the welcome I had by the whole family was wonderful, which meant a great deal. It certainly made photographing their wedding day much more personal and one that I enjoyed immensely. When I arrived things were in full flow, with make-up being done by talented artist Ana Ospina. I have known Ana for a long time, but this was our first wedding together, which was rather exciting. It wasn’t long before the gorgeous bride made an appearance, looking calm and so happy. A wonderful morning of giggles, excitement, smiles and happy nerves followed. It was finally time for Jennie to get into her dress. To say I was bowled over by her dress is a bit of an understatement! The most beautiful Sassi Holford design, with a removable lace bolero that meant Jennie had two dresses in one.
The ceremony was held at the couples family church. A place that both Jennie and Edward had been christened and confirmed in. Somewhere that had special meaning and a lot of history for both families. The priest was a complete star and made the ceremony personal, happy and relaxed. Some very enthusiastic confetti throwing outside the church bid the couple into their wedding car. While they meandered their way slowly to Moor Park Mansion, where the reception was being held, the guests all climbed on to the vintage bus for their journey to the afternoon celebrations.
This was my first time at Moor Park Mansion and I was very impressed. Not only is the venue stunning, with lovely gardens, beautiful decorations and a massive double-height room that turns into the dance area, but the team who work there are amazing. No task was too small and the day ran by very smoothly and cheerfully. When it came to the decorations in the rooms, Jennie and Edward had chosen to keep things simple, as the venue is quite ornate. Tall gypsophila arrangements by florists Two Girls & Some Flowers made the most of the room. Simple free standing gold letters and handwritten style place names which created a pretty, understated elegance to the tables. The cake was an amazing creation by Queen of Herts Cakes. Soft pink icing, with gold ribbons and lots of sugar flowers, made it look almost too good to eat!
Jennie and Edward arrived at the venue to cheers and shouts from their guests. Canapes and drinks followed with soft background music by a string quartet. After a few group photos, the couple and I took a walk to capture some photos of the two of them in the gardens. The rest of the day flew by. The speeches ran from beautifully heartfelt to slightly embarrassing for Edward (as expected from a best man’s speech!) but there was no denying the love and affection of everyone there for this happy couple.
The day continued and while guests moved into the bar and outside to enjoy the evening warmth Jennie had a quick outfit change. She took the lace bolero off and added a stunning sparkly necklace for her evening look! The evening music was provided by the coolest band, Tommy T and The Belle Tones. Everyone was ready for a good party as Jennie and Edward took to the floor for their first dance. It wasn’t long before everyone else piled onto the dance floor and the party really started. My day ended with a last dash out for a few sunset shots with the couple. A moment to relax, take a breather and reflect on the day. The couple had planned for a simple and elegant wedding day with a great party in the evening, they certainly achieved that and more.
Jennie and Edward are the most lovely people, easy to get on with, full of smiles and laughter and a perfect match. I feel very fortunate to have spent this special day with them and their families and friends.
As always a wedding day is created by many peoples hard work. Here are a few who did their stuff to make this a very beautiful and fun day
