An emotional and happy Hatfield house wedding
Today I’m thrilled to share Warren and Andy’s sunny Hatfield House wedding. I turned up at Warren and Andy’s house to find a calm scene with Warren and his maid of honour both very relaxed having their hair done. A similarly calm morning was taking place with Andy, who was at a nearby hotel with the best man. A little Champagne was drunk, suits were put on, final preparations were done and before long it was time to leave for Hatfield House. The couple had arranged for Warren to arrive first and hide himself away in the upstairs room while Andy and the guests arrived. The secret room overlooks both the entrance courtyard and the main ceremony room so there was plenty of opportunities to spy on everyone as they arrived!
They had hired the coolest little VW Beetle to get them to the venue, which was decorated in purple ribbons (the main wedding colour). Soon all the guests had arrived and took their seats and it was time for the ceremony. Their maid of honour, Ali, and best man, Euan (who are actually husband and wife) made their way down the aisle and then Warren and Andy entered from opposite sides of the room, met in the middle and walked down the aisle together. A really special, emotional and happy ceremony followed. The couple’s dog was the ring bearer and made a grand entrance down the aisle (somewhat stealing the show). When Warren and Andy were announced as husband and husband their guests erupted in applause and cheering.
The rest of the day was as wonderful, emotional, funny and special as the ceremony. The sun shined, everyone mingled in the beautiful garden at Hatfield House, drinks were drunk, food is eaten and lots of laughter and happiness all around. A truly wonderful Hatfield House wedding.
After a delicious dinner, the speeches which followed were just brilliant. Warrens mum kicked things off with a few fun tales from when Warren was younger. Both Andy and Warren stood up together to do a funny and heartfelt speech. The final speech was by Euan and Ali. By this time Euan had already been in tears a couple of times, after listening to Warren & Andy’s words. Thankfully he and Ali pulled it out of the bag with a very funny speech that had everyone in stitches.
The evening continued with a flash mob-style first dance, Warren and Andy run a stage school so had choreographed the dance which they had sent everyone to learn. It worked so well! This was followed by a ceilidh, which is always fun, and then straight into the disco. All in all a wonderful, fun and fabulous day.
It was amazing to be there to capture the day for Warren and Andy. It’s really special to be able to photograph a same-sex wedding as its still such a short time since it was made legal. To be able to do this in the beautiful venue of Hatfield House gave it that little bit more of a wow factor.
