An elegant Surrey Summer wedding for May & Steven who married at Cranleigh School, in Surrey.
May and Steven got married in Summer at the brides old school, Cranleigh School, which is a stunning place in Surrey. It was the most beautiful wedding and the sun shone all day long!
Getting ready
May got ready at the home of a family friend with her bridesmaids and family. When I got to the house the atmosphere was excited and relaxed. There was lots of activity as everyone was getting ready and doing the last few morning jobs. May chose to do her own makeup, so when I arrived the girls were all doing final makeup touches. There was an emotional moment when May’s dad saw her dressed and ready to go. And a bit of fumbling working out how to sort the veil! There was time for a glass of champagne and a few family photos before everyone left for the ceremony. The bride travelled in an open-top sports car with her dad.
Steven got ready in a local pub with his family and groomsmen. After a quick drink for courage, they travelled to Cranleigh School and were there ready to greet the guests arriving. Steven and the guys looked great in their kilts and one of Steven’s friends played the bagpipes as everyone arrived.
The ceremony
The ceremony was a beautiful service in the chapel at Cranleigh School. The couple said their vows, and had a reading by friends. During the signing of the register they had another friend sing. It was such a personal service and a really emotional ceremony. A perfect, elegant Surrey Summer wedding.
The reception & party
The reception was out in the courtyard in the middle of the school. There were table tennis tables set up and a live jazz band to entertain their guests. There were drinks, canapes, mingling and fun. After a few family photos outside the front of the school, May,Steven and I went for a relaxed wander around the grounds to capture a few couples photos.
The couple chose Cranleigh because May had gone to school there, so it was very meaningful to her. As they held the wedding near to May’s home they made sure to also bring elements of Steven’s Scottish heritage to the day. They had a piper to announce them into dinner, the guys wore kilts and they had an amazing ceilidh in the evening.
It was a beautiful, elegant and laid back wedding and was so much fun to be a part of. I love shooting weddings that bring personal elements from both couples. It’s wonderful to capture weddings where the couple relax, have fun and enjoy every moment. These two definitely did that!
The most fun part of the day was definitely the ceilidh. Who doesn’t love a ceilidh? They are a brilliant way to get everyone dancing, laughing and having fun.
May and Steven’s wedding was everything I love about weddings and just the happiest occasion. Here’s their gorgeous wedding!
