Elegant Summer Wedding at Queen’s House in Greenwich
When Ashlea and Sam first got in touch with me about their Summer wedding at Queen’s House in Greenwich, I was so excited – they were planning the most beautiful and stylish wedding with lots of personal touches and even welly wanging. Ashlea and Sam are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
De Vere Devonport House – Getting ready
I turned up at De Vere Devonport House, where Ashlea and her bridesmaids were getting ready, and it was so much fun because all the girls were there. There was lots of chatter and laughter as the girls were all excited about getting ready. Ashlea wore a stunning La Sposa dress while Sam wore a fabulous Ted Baker suit and they looked so gorgeous.
Great Hall Queens House Wedding Ceremony
The wedding took place in The Great Hall at Queen’s House and was very romantic. The ceremony was a heartwarming and happy moment, which was so lovely. After the ceremony, the couple walked back down the aisle to cheers. They snuck through the Undercroft of Queen’s House and exited to be showered with confetti as they left the beautiful building. As exits go Queen’s House offers a pretty fabulous one!
Outdoor Wedding Reception in Greenwich
The wedding reception took place on the lawn outside the Orangery, which overlooks Greenwich Park and the Observatory. It was a beautifully sunny day, which was what the couple had hoped for. While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, the couple mingled while I took candid photos. A Summer wedding at Queen’s House really is hard to beat! My favourite photo from the afternoon is the one with Ashlea and her hen party girls, who decided to do some welly wanging! So much laughter and silliness, it was brilliant fun. Even if I did have to duck to avoid getting a welly in the head! All part of the course as a wedding photographer.
As their guests enjoyed the last of the reception time, I whisked the new Mr & Mrs off for a few photos. Queen’s House is such a gorgeous place, you are spoiled for choice for where to take photos. I wanted to make sure they got some iconic images of the venue as well as capturing some beautiful relaxed portraits of the two of them. This is a time for the couple to catch their breath and enjoy a little time together.
The Evening
Ashlea and Sam made a fabulous entrance back into the Main Hall for the wedding breakfast, sweeping down the elegant Tulip Staircase. A delicious dinner was followed by speeches. Funny, heartfelt, emotional, embarrassing… coming to an end with the best man introducing Skeletor & He-Man, who broke into dance as a finale to the speeches. Definitely a moment to remember!
The dance floor is set up in the Undercroft of the building. The couple took to the floor before being joined by their guests and dancing the night away. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. A beautiful, elegant and fun Summer wedding at Queen’s House in Greenwich.
