A beautiful East Sussex wedding at Wadhurst Castle
If you’re planning an outdoor East Sussex wedding, you’ll love this wedding for inspiration!
When Frances and James first got in touch with me about their wedding, I was so happy. They were planning a beautiful East Sussex wedding with an outdoor ceremony at Wadhurst Castle with on the lawn for the reception. Frances and James are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Getting ready at Wadhurst Castle
I started at Wadhurst Castle, where the bride was getting ready, and it was so much fun. Everyone was in a good mood and excited for the day ahead. The couples little one joined us for the morning prep and was such a star, smiling and getting cuddles from everyone. Frances and James had chosen cornflower blue as a key colour in their wedding styling. The bridesmaids all had gorgeous blue PJ’s to wear while doing make up and hair. They then changed into their blue bridesmaids dresses. The flowers were a perfect combination of whites, pastels and green with a soft blue flower to tie into the colour theme. Frances wore a lacy dress and James wore a navy suit and they looked amazing.
Beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony
The wedding took place in the walled garden at Wadhurst Castle, and was a very special. The couple exchanged vows before lighting a candle of remembrance. They had one of their bridesmaids sing during the register signing, which was so beautiful. After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then they were showered with confetti as they walked back down the aisle.
Garden party drinks reception
The wedding drinks reception took place on the lawn in front of the castle, which is such a fabulous spot to start the wedding celebrations.
It was a beautifully sunny day, which was glorious. While the guests enjoyed drinks, canapés and sunshine, the couple mingled and laughed with their loved ones. After a few family photos we took a wander into the gorgeous gardens for some couples photos. Frances and James wanted to include their little one in a few pictures, before having some time for just the two of them.
The wedding breakfast took place in the marquee on the lawn. The marquee was beautifully decorated by Lydie Dalton, with pretty pastel coloured flowers. Afterward dinner they had some wonderful speeches from the groom, best men and the brides mum.
We had a glorious sunset so took the chance for a few evening portraits before the party got going. The couple started the evening with their first dance before everyone piled onto the dance floor, ready to party the night away.
Lovely words
“You made our wedding wonderful, you were an absolute pleasure to have with us and share our special day with us. So many of our guests commented on your friendly manner with them, so a huge thank you from us for everything you did on the day. Also a very big thank you making us practice our first dance!! It was a great idea and we are so glad you made us do it!
We knew from the moment we met you we would be in capable hands and we certainly were.”
