Cotswold Wedding Photography – A very pretty Stone Barn wedding
Irene and Oli had a Springtime Stone Barn wedding. Stone Barn is a shabby chic barn in the Cotswolds, with gorgeous views, roaring fires and a very relaxed vibe. It was a beautiful day, the blossom was out on the trees and the weather was kind to us! As Spring weddings go you couldn’t ask for more.
Getting ready
Irene and Oli got ready separately but at the same hotel, The Old Swan & Minster Mill in Witney. Oli had his ushers, best man and Irene’s brother to keep him company. Irene had her parents and bridesmaids with her, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. After spending a little time getting photos with the groom, Oli left for the venue first. It was then time for Irene to get into her dress, make final preparations and to make the short journey to their Stone Barn wedding. As she walked down the stairs, all dressed and ready, her parents and bridesmaids were waiting. Irene’s Dad teared up seeing his little girl ready to get married.
The ceremony
The ceremony was a humanist service in the main barn. The room was simply decorated with pretty flowers, with a harpist providing the music. The couple’s friend was the officiant and made the ceremony fun, personal and touching. Oli was walked down the aisle by his parents. Irene then did the same. It was a real family affair. During the ceremony, they had several beautiful readings from family. They read their own vows and exchanged rings. It was a beautiful ceremony and brought a few tears as well as lots of happy faces.
The reception
The reception was outside in the garden at the venue. While it wasn’t a hot day, it was warm enough for most guests to enjoy drinks and canapes outside. It was a relaxed, happy and personal wedding, which is always a joy to be a part of. Towards the end of the reception time, I took a walk with Irene & Oli to capture some relaxed portraits of the two of them and make the most of the lovely day and Springtime blossom.
As the couple and their guests sat for dinner it was wonderful to spot two deer on the horizon. After dinner, it was time for speeches. Heartfelt, emotional, fun and lovely as Irene’s Dad, Oli, the best man, the maid of honour and Irene all said a few words.
The cake had been made by Oli’s mum and was the centrepiece on the dessert table. When it was time, the couple cut the cake and then went through to the barn for the first dance. They did a wonderful dance and were quickly followed onto the dance floor by guests eager to have a dance themselves. Oli’s mum whisked Irene’s Dad off his feet! I’m not sure he knew what was happening but he had a smile on his face and got stuck into the dancing! It was a lot of fun.
I had a blast photographing Irene & Oli’s Stone Barn wedding. They are the loveliest people and had such a happy and special wedding day.
