Cosy & Stylish central London wedding at The Anthologist
“A big thank you for everything on the day! Honestly, you went above and beyond with the pre-wedding prep!! We really enjoyed having you with us on the day, you were super professional and yet really warm and made us feel completely comfortable.” – Clare & Stu
When Clare and Stu first got in touch with me about their city wedding in London, I was so excited – they were planning such a fun and laid back wedding with a London bus ride, cocktails and steak & chips. Clare and Stu are the loveliest people and I was so excited to shoot their wedding!
As their wedding was the end of March, they chose to embrace the slightly cooler weather. The groom and groomsmen wore tweed and they brought colour in by choosing rich reds for their flowers and accessories.
Getting ready at the Town Hall Hotel
I turned up at the Town Hall Hotel, where the bride was getting ready, and it was so relaxed. It was just Clare, her man of honour and her parents. Clare wore gorgeous Catherine Deane separates; a skirt, bodice & lace top and Stu wore a stylish tweed suit from Next and they looked fabulous!
The wedding took place at Hackney Town Hall and was a fun town hall ceremony. There were a few happy tears and some nervous giggles, which just made for a very sweet ceremony. Totally Clare & Stu! After the ceremony, the couple danced back down the aisle together, and then we did a confetti tunnel outside the main entrance. There was time for a few family photos on the steps of the Town Hall, before the couple and their guests got onto the London bus to head to the reception.
The pub reception
The wedding reception took place at The Anthologist pub in the city, which they’d decorated with candles, flowers, cosy throws and lots of personal touches. It was so unique and really did fit their idea of creating a stylish central London wedding.
It was an overcast day, which didn’t bother them at all. While the guests enjoyed canapes and champagne, we wandered around the area doing some relaxed and fun portraits.
For dinner, they chose steak & chips, and it was a great alternative to wedding food and was perfect for a cold day. After the meal there were a few speeches, then everyone migrated to the bar and the couple hit the dancefloor. We had one last dash outside for some evening photos. Clare & Stu loved the idea of capturing some photos of London at night, which was a fun way to end the photography on the day.
About the couple
Clare and Stu met at a mutual friends party 5 years ago in Clapham. They say if you’re planning a wedding; “Do exactly what you want to do. Don’t worry about what others think, or whether its wedding’y enough or elegant enough, on the day everyone will relish in the choices you make and will be so happy for you that all the pre-opinions and the guilt you carry over certain decisions just won’t matter to anyone, least of all you. So go with your instincts, trust in each other’s decisions and have something for yourselves.”
Here’s their fabulous cosy & stylish central London wedding! Enjoy!
