Chic London wedding at BMA house
It was a beautiful sunny Spring day for Lucy and Tom’s chic London wedding at BMA House. As with a number of the weddings I photograph, I was recommended to the bride and groom. In this case, the groom is the brother of one of my past clients, Edward. Edward and Jennie married a few years ago and had their wedding at Moor Park Mansion.
The day started at the stunning St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, where Lucy and her bridesmaids were getting ready. It was wonderful to see Ana Ospina and Suhyun Kang doing the hair and makeup for the girls. It was a relaxed morning as the bride and her bridesmaids chatted and enjoyed a little champagne in the luxurious room. Lucy’s parents arrived, signalling the time to get the bride into her wedding dress. A very proud Mum and Dad watched on as their little girl became the bride to be.
Lucy had chosen a beautiful and elegant dress by Ivory & Co. I love the flowing skirts and the pretty lace top. A perfect look for a chic London wedding. The flowers added a dash of colour and softness, with bright coral peonies and dusky roses. Lucy finished off her look with a pair of gorgeous gold shoes.
On the way to the vintage wedding car, I took the chance to capture some photos with the bride to be outside the iconic St Pancras building. Lucy and Tom chose to marry in their local church, St Benet’s in Kentish Town. Outside it looks like many other London churches, but inside you are met with bright, open space and the slightly worn walls give the place a real charm.
The slightly nervous bride and groom said their vows surrounded by their loved ones. As they signed the register the nerves disappeared, replaced by beaming smiles. The new Mr & Mrs made their way down the aisle and had a few quiet moments while their guests made their way out of the church. Confetti was thrown as the couple walked through the line of very excited guests.
I jumped in the car with Lucy and Tom so we could scoot ahead and capture a few relaxed, natural photos of the couple before the drinks reception. We arrived at BMA House with the sun shining, ready to start the celebrations. We did a few photos in the courtyard and then made our way to the beautiful hidden gardens. The couple then awaited the arrival of their guests.
Lucy and Tom had arranged a Pimms bar for the reception drinks, so the Pimms flowed and everyone chatted and mingled. It was a beautiful afternoon. Before long it was time for dinner and speeches. There were cheers, a few emotional moments, a little embarrassment, and lots of laughter as the speeches went on. The day flowed into the evening and I whisked Lucy and Tom away for a few quiet moments and a few more photos in the garden. By now the sun was setting and it was quiet and calm in the garden. The couple practised their first dance and had a catch up on the day so far.
We made our way back into the building for cake cutting and first dance. Soon the music kicked off and the dance floor filled with some very enthusiastic dancing! It’s always great to see people really let go on the dance floor. I wandered, capturing everything that was happening. A few of the guests had made their way out to the courtyard to enjoy the lovely warm evening. I left everyone to get on with the party.
It was a total pleasure to be a part of this wedding and to see some familiar faces and past clients. I hope you enjoy going through this beautiful chic London wedding as much as I did photograph it.
