Kat & Ian’s bright & colourful Thames Rowing Club wedding
If you’re planning a Thames Rowing Club wedding, you’ll love this for inspiration!
When Kat and Ian first got in touch with me about their wedding, I was so excited – they were planning a really fun and laid back wedding with loads of colour and a ceilidh band for the reception. Kat and Ian are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Getting ready
I started at an air bnb close to Thames Rowing Club, where the bride and her friends were getting ready, and it was so relaxed, because everyone was in a good mood and excited for the day ahead. Kat is dressmaker by trade and had not only made her own dress, but she had also made skirts for the bridesmaids. Together they were all the colours of the rainbow and they looked amazing.
The ceremony at Thames Rowing Club
The wedding took place at Thames Rowing Club, and was such a wonderful and happy ceremony. They said their vows with the biggest smiles on their faces, and had some very special readings. After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone as Kat & Ian walked back down the aisle together. The couple and their guests made their way outside for confetti and photos by the river.
The wedding reception at Thames Rowing Club
The drinks reception also took place at Thames Rowing Club, which was decorated so wonderfully with colourful bunting, hand made paper windmills and gorgeous statement flower. It was perfect for Kat and Ian and captured the relaxed and colourful feel of their day.
It was a beautifully sunny day and while the guests enjoyed drinks at the bar, the couple mingled while I took candids. We made the most of the lovely weather to get photos by the Thames before everyone was seated for dinner.
Instead of a traditional dessert they had an ice cream cart, and it was loved by all the guests. After dinner, they had some wonderful speeches from their wedding party and parents, which kept everyone entertained. After cutting the cake we made the most of the beautiful evening and took a walk down by the river for evening photos. When we returned the ceilidh band was set up and ready to get the evening party started. The dance floor was packed as everyone joined in the fun and chaos of the ceilidh. I even managed to join in for one dance once I had finished for the evening. I am a big fan of ceilidhs!
Kat and Ian chose to add a wedding album to their photography package. I truly love creating wedding albums. There is something very special about designing a book that is going to be around for many generations. After receiving their album they sent me a lovely message:
“We received our wedding album yesterday and have just opened it and looked through it together – it’s beautiful! Thank you so so much, its even lovelier than I anticipated it being and so wonderful to see the detail in the bigger photos. We love it! Thank you for all your work on both the photos and the album. Many thanks, Kat & Ian”
