Sophie and David’s elegant wedding at Woburn Abbey
The day started with Sophie and the bridesmaids at the home she shares with David. A wonderfully relaxed morning with hair, make-up, lots of chat and a bit of champagne to keep the nerves at bay. By the time the morning preparations were coming to an end, the sun was beginning to peek out from the clouds. Sophie chose to have her hair up in an elegant yet relaxed bun and with her simple makeup and striking eyes gave her a real look of Audrey Hepburn. By the time she had her beautiful Claire Pettibone dress on the look was complete. Beautiful and very elegant.
While I was with the girls my second photographer, Emmie, was with the guys. They certainly had a fun morning getting ready, with one of two whiskies to keep things flowing!
The ceremony and reception both took place at The Sculpture Gallery at Woburn Abbey. This really is the most stunning place. Beautiful grounds surround grand buildings and the tree that hold centre stage in the courtyard really does stop you in your tracks for the sheer size alone. Once you enter the building space is just as striking and definitely makes for a show-stopping wedding.
Guests arrived and found their seats in the main room and soon it was time for the entrance of the page boy…and how amazing was this little boy? He walked the whole length of the room and the aisle all alone, so proud and happy to deliver the rings safely to David. He was followed by the gorgeous bridesmaids, dressed in beautiful dusky purple dresses and then it was Sophie’s turn. A wonderfully happy ceremony followed with cheers and very enthusiastic confetti throwing to celebrate the marriage. As I snuck out with the new Mr & Mrs for a few photos with their elegant vintage wedding car and to explore the venue, the guests made their way to the bar area for canapés and champagne.
The couple had designed so many lovely little creative touches to add an extra bit of wow to the wedding day. Dotted along the entrance corridor were beautiful vases of flowers, candles and little picture frames with photos of them as children. The dining area of the room was beautifully dressed in simple white and grey linens, complementing the venue. The floral designs had been created by Sophie’s friend Sophie King from The Bloomery and she did the most amazing job. I loved the mix of orange with dusky purples and greens.
Sophie and David’s wedding day was a really special celebration. Their friends and family are such fun people and it was a real privilege and pleasure to be there to celebrate with them all and capture the events of the day. There were funny and heartfelt speeches, some riotous dancing and a lot of laughter, all set in the most amazing venue.
