Louise & Byron’s gorgeous and elegant wedding at Coworth Park in Ascot
Louise and Byron’s wedding day arrived with a warmth to the air and a promise of sunshine. Everyone was ready for their elegant wedding at Coworth Park! The weather played ball for the most part. A fairly torrential passing shower made the exit from the church a tad delayed, but the sun soon shone out again and made for the most wonderful afternoon and evening. It was a wedding that spanned the Home Counties with the bridal prep in Surrey, the ceremony in Hampshire and the reception in Berkshire.
This is one of those weddings that made me grateful for doing this job. A happy loved up couple (who were so laid back and relaxed it was a dream to photograph them), a beautiful Suzanne Neville dress, Jimmy Choo heels, the prettiest countryside church, a gorgeous picturesque venue and family and friends who really did know how to enjoy themselves and made me feel very welcome. The whole day made for the most relaxed, yet elegant wedding at Coworth Park.
I began the day at Louise’s parent’s house, where the hustle and bustle of wedding preparations were well underway. It wasn’t long before the champagne was opened and the level of excitement went up a notch. Louise had kept her dress a secret from her dad so it took a bit of sneaky work to get some photos of it while trying to keep her dad away from the upstairs hallway. It was worth it when fully dressed and made up, Louise came down the stairs and her dad saw her for the first time ready to get married. Tears sprang into his eyes, which instantly made Louise, her mum, her bridesmaids and me all get a little teary-eyed ourselves!
My assistant, Jesse, went to hang out with the boys for the morning. They spent their time cleaning the Porsche that was to take Byron to the church, making direction signs, drinking whisky and relaxing until the time came to get ready. Suits on, cufflinks fastened, ties tied and polished shoes on, all ready to go. Guys definitely don’t take as long as the girls do with the wedding prep!
I dashed ahead of the wedding party to the church, a gorgeous little place in the middle of the countryside, and caught up with Byron and all the guests who were starting to arrive. An emotional ceremony followed, with tears and laughter from the bride, groom and guests. After a slight delay in leaving the church, due to a temperamental bit of weather, Louise and Byron finally exited as the new Mr & Mrs Wells, to flurries of confetti and plenty of cheering. The reception was a little drive away at Coworth Park. This is the most gorgeous venue and one I had been wanting to work at for a while. A stunning large house with simple and elegant decor, beautifully landscaped gardens as well as a wild meadow makes it such a perfect spot for a reception. They also looked after us so very well with great food! Happily, by the time we got there, we had left the rain in Hampshire and the sun was shining brightly. Drinks and canapes were enjoyed while we did some relaxed family photos and captured the guests chit-chatting and mingling. Louise, Byron and I took a wander in a golf buggy (always fun) to get some photos of the two of them. This is always a nice time for a couple to get away and have a few moments together. There were plenty of giggles, a fair bit of cuddling, a few kisses, some dancing by the ornamental lily pond and some swishing and swirling in that amazing Suzanne Neville dress.
It was soon time for food, speeches and evening celebrations. The cake was cut, the first dance danced and the evening began with the guests happily piling on the dance floor. I took the chance to whisk Louise and Byron out again for a few moments as the sun was setting. Byron brought his hip flask along and clearly enjoyed chilling out for a bit with his new wife.
As the sun finally disappeared beyond the horizon, I captured the party in full flow and then left everyone to dance the night away. The best day and such a pleasure to be there, capture this wonderful occasion and spend the time with Louise, Byron and their brilliant friends and family.
