Stylish and elegant outdoor wedding at a French Chateau

I don’t tend to do weddings abroad anymore but now and again one pops up that I can’t say no to. Charlie is the son of a friend who I used to work for. I have known the family for many years so it didn’t feel like a job, more a wonderful opportunity to catch up with people I hadn’t seen in ages.

The two day wedding took place at Chateau La Durantie in Bordeaux. What a beautiful place for a wedding! The Chateau is exclusive use, which made it feel even more special. The first evening was welcome drinks. With an outdoor bar, pizza van and live music, it was the perfect start to the weekend.

The wedding day was amazing. The ceremony was set up outdoors with views over the gardens. The aisle was the path from the Chateau, which made for the most fabulous entrance. Charlie and Jade had chosen to use silk flowers for the majority of the decorations. They looked stunning lining the aisle. The ceremony was very emotional. The service was led by a celebrant, they had two wonderful readings and the couple had written their own vows. It was a very special moment. As Charlie and Jade took a few moments to themselves after the ceremony while their guests lined up and then the happy couple walked back down the aisle to confetti and cheers.

They kicked off the drinks reception with a champagne tower. I love these! They make for great photos as well as being a fun way to get everyone a glass of bubbly. After drinks, chats and time with their guests I took Jade and Charlie for a wander for some photos of the two of them.

A stunning day turned into a beautiful evening. The night was warm and the light as the sun went down was glorious. After a delicious meal there were some brilliant speeches. Lots of happy tears, emotion and plenty of laughs (some at Charlies expense!).

As it got dark the music started and it was time for the first dance. Everyone was up for the party and filled the dance floor. The final treat of the night was a firework display.

What a spectacular wedding weekend. A chic and elegant outdoor wedding followed by one hell of a party! I had the best time and loved being part of this special day.

I hope you have enjoyed this little trip to France and if you are planning an outdoor wedding hope this has given some inspiration. The silk flowers were such a wonderful idea. Not only does it mean that they don’t wilt on a very hot day, but they are also recyclable so there is minimal waste after the event. I love outdoor weddings so if you are planning a wedding in a garden, on the beach or at an outdoor venue get in touch!
