Just call me Fee..
Hi, I’m Fiona…or Fee as most people call me. I’m the one behind the camera. I specialise in beautiful, natural and relaxed wedding, portrait and commercial photography.
I’m based in London, and while most of my weddings and photography sessions are in London, Kent and Surrey, I’m happy to travel over the UK. I love nothing more than meeting new people, photographing amazing events and capturing wonderful memories.
I’m originally from the Lake District and even though I have been in London for over 20 years I will always be a Northerner. I now live in Purley, south London, with my husband, our teenage son, a shouty cat called Chilli and a crazy fuzzball Cockapoo called Baxter. There’s never a dull moment but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
HELLO!
A tom boy at heart, I live in jeans and love outdoor adventures. I’ve always been active (as a child I was called Tigger because I never sat still!), but now hockey & athletics have been replaced by pilates, weights and dog walks.
While I have no idea what I am doing in the garden I do enjoy pottering around and when something actually grows it’s feels like a big win!
My absolute happy place is my weekly art class. I started painting again a couple of years ago and I love spending as much time as I can painting and drawing.
When we can actually agree on what to watch, I love a family film night. I know pretty much all the words to The Sound of Music, can easily get lost in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. My viewing is a random mix, from Ted Lasso, Ghosts and Schitts Creek to The Crown, Slow Horses and Vikings.
I’m a bit of a collector of ‘things’ (something my son has inherited) and on our travels we pick up all sorts of souvenirs and artwork.
PHOTOGRAPHY WAS NOT MY FIRST CAREER
I first dabbled with taking photos many moons ago (I’m definitely not telling you how many!), when I pinched my Dad’s old film camera and decided to have a go. I was lucky to have a dark room at school so learned to use the camera, develop my own film, print my own photographs and do lots of experimenting! Exactly what you should do when studying art A Level!
This early foray into photography got sidetracked by a degree in Graphic Design and then a job as a Graphic Designer & Photographic Art Director.
Little did I know at the time how many valuable skills I would learn, while travelling the world working on fashion, lifestyle and interiors shoots. My interest in people, places and design and my love of natural images, beautiful light and creative composition made for a perfect fit when I finally rediscovered photography and took the plunge, setting up Fiona Kelly Photography.
HOW I WORK
Since I started my photography business back in 2009, over 350 couples have trusted me to capture their wedding day. I have been a witness 4 times when photographing elopements and have been thrilled to photograph a number of marriage proposals.
I bring all that experience to your wedding. I know where to be at the right times and how the day flows. I know when to stay in the background and discretely capture the moment, and when to step up to sort out the photos that need taking. I know how to help you keep calm when things get a little hectic and I have sorted out more veils, bustles and buttonholes than I can remember!
I love to tell stories with natural, beautiful and creative photography. I have a bit of an obsession with sunsets and have been known to do a happy dance when the light is just perfect (you have been warned!).
As well as capturing the big events of the day, I’m always looking out for the small moments. Things that might not even be noticed, but will create the most amazing memory for you after the day.
Over the years, I have had my work regularly featured in leading UK Wedding magazines and on highly respected blogs, such as Bridal Musings, Rock My Wedding, Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, Love My Dress, Style Me Pretty, Want That Wedding & Brides.
